Yulee Sugar
Mill
Ruins
A concrete path and interpretive
plagues lead visitors through one
of Florida's most significant
historical sites.
View the solid remains of a sugar
mill
that once employed more
than
1000 workers.
Hewn from
native limestone, the mill was
part of a thriving 5100 acre
sugar plantation owned by
David Yulee. Florida's first
U.S. Senator, Yulee built
the first cross-state rail-
road, completed in 1860.
The mill operated from 1845
until then end of the civil
war, providing sugar to
the southern troops.
